Preparation
Whether the brief comes from an Architect, Interior Designer or an Individual, we examine it thoroughly to ensure that every detail is clear and understood for both the client and our craftsman. Our professionalism and experience ensures a comprehensive understanding of the client’s requirements and we work closely to help develop the brief to cover all bases. While the brief will help guide the project, establishing meaningful relationships with our clients and clear communication at this stage is pivotal for the success of the project.
Design
At the design stage, quotations and value engineering will be discussed with clients. After careful consideration of form, function, sustainability and aesthetic of the piece, preliminary drawings & material samples are provided. Further technical and structural advice will be discussed and final production drawings will be produced. These will all define the project specifications and will be referred to until the production is completed. Curtwood use detailed construction drawings with SolidWorks 2-3D systems for technical engineering, and produce renders based on these drawings. We will then fine-tune the materials, details technicality and the processes required to deliver exactly what’s required.
Craft
Our approach is simple. We combine our meticulous concept design processes with research and development to ensure efficient and sustainable production. Once our designs move into the crafting phase, we use accurate machining processes focused on minimising waste, saving energy, and reducing our carbon footprint. However, no machine can replace a craftsman’s skill. That’s why we adapt to make each piece truly special. Adapting traditional making techniques, from hand planing for the perfect shape to using fine hand tools for adding unique details – as both master designers and craftsmen – we thrive on knowing that each Curtwood piece will last and be loved for generations.
Delivery
All pieces are handled with the utmost care to ensure bespoke pieces are delivered on time and in perfect condition. Depending on the scope of the project, we will provide assembly and installation of our pieces. Curtwood's collaboration does not stop once the furnishing elements have been finished, it continues with after-sales service. Whether it is assistance with repairs or additions to existing projects, all requests are managed with the utmost consideration and professionalism.
